After that, my wife was surprised at me for giving her a second opportunity. France first lady can sing, and also, can improve herself. Her debut album, Quelqu'un M'a dit, was a great experience, but her second disc, No Promises, was an absolute fiasco. but it was worth it.This disc is diverse, both in styles as in languages (English, Italian, French). Not as astonishing as Quelqu'un M'a Dit, but still a good acquisition.
Loved the CDs.A+++++Thank you,Ana Queiroz
All but two of the songs on this CD are in French (one of the remaining songs is in English, and one is in Italian). If you take the time to do the translation, you will find that the French seem to have no compunction about certain subjects English-speaking audiences find a bit uncomfortable. Carla Bruni reinforces this idea, for example comparing certain female body parts to a chrysanthemum.Even if you don't bother to do the translation, you'll hear a sultry woman's voice, singing with feeling and verve. Although the songs are all similar (including the English "You Belong To Me" and the Italian "Il Vecchio e il Bambino"), they have an easy-listening, smooth-jazz feel that makes nice background music.This is not a "deep" set; rather, it's a set of songs by a woman who clearly has feeling for the words she's singing, and is happy to share those moods with the rest of us.
Love this CD. First saw her perform on the TODAY show and immediately ordered the CD. She has such a pure, beautiful voice. I like every cut on the CD.
a really good cd. draws one into the music and swiftly into anice reflective or pensive mood.
